most days i can point to one clear moment when i am reminded about the potential that America possesses and my love for my country. we are a complicated mix of ideals, showmanship, hard work and technology. we are the most generous people in the world even as we spiral out of control in debt. with all the negatives connotations out there, it is sometimes hard to remember that we are unique in the world (and yes arrogance is a part of that). WE ARE AMERICAN!

thank you Grant County, thank you residents of John Day for today’s moment of clarity.

you heard me. if you lost your job last month, blame the unexpected winter weather which was cause by (you guessed it) GLOBAL WARMING… opps, i mean “climate change”.

i saw the ad… i laughed at the segments… i wondered about the ant eater??? i was seriously confused by the ending… are we making fun of the environmental wackos or playing on people’s guilt? oh well, it’s not really my problem. it’s classic humor to take something to an extreme and point out the absurdity. it’s not like it could really happen… i mean come on no one is going to tell me what to do with my light bulbs are they?

it seems i seriously underestimated the power of dumb people in large groups

fake commercial silliness

paper or plastic – face plant on the bar code reader and the ring up sound – classic
batteries in the trash – i don’t throw batteries in the trash * just saying * i need a lock for my trashcan
orange rinds not being composted – what? really? REALLY?!?
incandescent light bulbs – aren’t the CFC bulbs we are supposed to replace them with class 5 free roaming vapors? don’t they have mercury or something?
plastic bottles – i thought using plastic was good *you could recycle it *supposed to keep the polar bears from choking on them thinking they were seals or something
hot tub temperature – been in a hot tub many times and it was always hot ( “brownchicken browncow” – say it a few times fast – you’ll get it, i promise)

-orange rinds not being composted – while looking for this, i got sidetracked by north carolina again. seriously, i wonder if there is something in the plastic water bottles there

-but on the subject of compost laws…
